Contribution of Australian cricket please enumerate? Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I came to this section and found one user objected--why we dont speak about australian cricket. It is true. Many of us have been saying many things about Australian cricket (myself included), but let us not forget the great contribution of the great Australian nation to this great game.
I will dedicate this question to my australian friends and request them to share some great moments and enumerate the contribution of their country to this great game.
So friends on this Sunday night, a toast to all the Aussie greats , name them so that we do not forget them.

Australia is the equal oldest team in cricket with England. They played the first test V England in 1877,winning by 45 runs.As of 20th January 2008, they have played 692 matches, winning 46,82%, losing 25,86% & drawing 27.02%.They have led the ICC test champions table for the majority of time since it's inception in 2001 S.Africa did lead for a short time,January to May in 2003.They are ranked first in ODIs & have won the last three world cups. They have led the ODI table since it came into being, apart from a few months in 2007.
Edit: Cricket is more popular overall.There are cricket matches in every town & most villages in summer. It has always been looked on as a social occassion in smaller communities, where people go to meet & enjoy the game. Bradman is the most recognised Australian cricketer, but as you know Rehman, we have had many notable players over the years. Benaud, Lawry,the Chappell brothers, Lillee, Thomson,Walker, the Waugh brothers, the Lee brothers, Neil Harvey, Keith Miller, Bill O'Reilly,& many more. Our culture in cricket is much the same as England's,the same determination to win & competitive spirit.Some people here are fond of branding Aussies as the worst sledgers, but that is hardly fair, as all teams indulge in it. We never back down from an insult or attack on our country or it's team. I don't need to tell you who my favourite cricketer is Rehman my friend!
Edit 2. How remiss of me! I forgot to mention the Aussie cricketer who was born in my own hometown, Stan McCabe, born in Grenfell NSW.
